city of City of Norwood Payneham & St Peters
The Gallery at St Peters Town Hall complex
The 2024 Kapi Wala exhibition brought together Iwiri Arts, a Ku Arts member-supported art centre and independent artists from Coober Pedy. The exhibition, Kapi Wala (which means running water), is about the transference and movement of water in Kapingku Putintja (the rain time), and it showcases paintings and ceramics by artists from Iwiri Arts and artists supported by Ku Arts.
Since its inception in 2021, Iwiṟi Art Studio has rapidly established itself as a highly regarded Studio. Iwiri Arts creates a space for artistic expression that promotes cultural retention, transmission and wellbeing across the generations while also providing Anangu artists with commercial opportunities to produce economic benefit for their family and community.
In 2024, Ku Arts supported Independent Coober Pedy artists to access quality art materials, including canvas and paint and overcome barriers of prohibitive freight costs. Ku Arts also provided wrap-around arts administration support including cataloguing, photographing artworks, writing artist bios to support artists in accessing exhibition opportunities, such as City of Norwood Payneham and St Peters Kapi Wala. 100% of sales return to artists.
