As the peak organisation for Aboriginal artists and art centres in South Australia, Ku Arts creates opportunities and pathways for artists to achieve ethical exhibition and presentation outcomes. Ku Arts delivers an annual ‘Awards on Demand’ program stream for independent artists, where Ku Arts functions as the bridge to significant career-building opportunities, such as the National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Art Award to local exhibitions, including the Malka Art Prize and Our Mob Exhibition. Through this program, Ku Arts provides personalised support to artists, including access to quality art materials and access to the Ku Arts studio at The Mill for studio skills training, support in writing artist bios and artwork stories, assistance completing application forms, cataloguing artworks, assisting with benchmark artwork pricing, photographing artwork, and providing artist headshots.
Ku Arts has partnered with Flinders Medical Centre (FMC) Arts in Health to organise and curate on-site exhibitions. The partnership supports independent artists and community groups in accessing this opportunity by providing access to art materials and assisting with freight, artwork pricing, artwork cataloguing, and artists’ bios. Ku Arts thanks Arts National Adelaide for their generous support, which helps fund one group exhibition each year.
In addition, Ku Arts works in partnership with the Department for Correctional Services (DCS) whose funding support enables Aboriginal artists to deliver workshops in correctional and community settings. This partnership expands opportunities for creative expression, cultural connection, and pathways into the arts for participants.
Through our partnerships, we can provide exhibition opportunities for South Australian artists and ensure that 100% of the proceeds from sales are returned directly to the artists.
