Spirit over Sellicks
Raffia Weaving, 84cm diameter, 2025
This weaving is a love letter to Sellicks Beach—a place of ocean, green land, ochre rocks, and soft sand under ever-changing skies. Like us, it shifts with light and season, revealing strength and softness. It feels like a warrior—stoic and powerful—yet gentle at its edges, glowing at sunset. Woven on Kaurna Land, this work is a portal to the beach’s enduring beauty and spirit.
Elisabeth is an Indigenous artist whose work is a journey of honouring the connection between Ancestors, land and the stories it holds. Through the mediums of weaving and painting, she channels wisdom passed down through generations, honouring both the spiritual and physical ties that bind us to the earth. The act of creating is a form of meditation and storytelling for her with her work reflecting the rhythms of nature and of the self. Elisabeth’s work serves as a bridge between past and present, spiritual and physical.
