Mindis were traditionally small woven grass baskets used to carry small personal items and also message sticks from place to place. Two different species of lomandra (jindarigun and bajarr bajarr) were used. Today artists are experimenting with a variety of non-traditional items such as wire, plastics, ropes and cord to create mindi.
