The story of a lone male emu walking strong with delicate feathers brushing up the black berry bushes, that over looking his final egg to make his clutch to sit and await the arrival of his next young. This little emu feather basket with lid holds his story, the found emu feathers after he abandons now he has his chicks to care and moves to another location these feathers woven together that are now preserved as a reminder of his story, how he has his duty to care for his young for some years until they are independent but learn life skills from him and then he walks alone once more, the lid closes that story until another one is opened.
Cassie is from the Dja Dja Wurrung and Daungwurrung people from the Kulin Nation. She is a multi-disciplinary Indigenous artist. Her skills revolve around weaving, fashion and jewellery design, painting, ceramics, bushtukka and cultural education. All of Cassie's works has a deep connection to Country, biodiversity and traditional sustainable living of the past, to carry on in the present, for future generations to witness and learn.
